Move closer to the cultures and protect the tradition

Bringing cultures closer together and safeguarding traditions:  these are the cultural aims of the RFI. To please the invited groups and to offer to spectators, some original, unusual, delightful and, above all, high quality shows: this is the popular side of the RFI’s objectives. The RFI vintage 2010 will present itself under the sign of diversity. In fact, the invited countries have seldom been so representative of the world-wide cultural diversity. We shall have the opportunity to welcome in Fribourg nine groups hailing from  North-, Central- and South America, Eastern- and Central Europe , Near- and Middle East, Oceania and, last but not least, Africa. Therefore, do not miss the chance to discover new cultures and beautiful traditions during this 36th edition.

Easter Island

TUMU HENAU

Easter Island is lost in the middle of the Pacific. The nearest land is 4000 km. away. Unknown for centuries, surrounded only by waves and clouds, it has succeeded to create a unique and original culture: the RAPANUI culture. Founded in 1989, the Tumu Henau group has managed with the passing years, thanks to a relentless effort, to keep alive and diffuse the culture of this mysterious and majestic island. The songs and dances of the Tumu Henau group guarantee a feeling of strangeness and reveries.

LA BOURREE GANNATOISE

The little city of Ganna, a veritable land of transition two steps away from the Chaîne des Volcans, is situated between the gentle landscapes of the Bourbonnais region and the plains of the Limagne. It is there that the La Bourrée Gannatoise  was founded in 1965. The group makes the best of the great cultural diversity of the two main provinces, the Bourbonnais in the North and the Auvergne in the South, to present a rich and varied folklore. The very rhythmical music and finely worked choreographies will let you discover the cultural richness of Auvergne.

Mexico
